How long is an EASA Class 1 medical certificate valid?

An EASA Class 1 medical certificate is valid for 12 months for holders under 60, and 6 months for those aged 60 and over. Class 2, 3 and 4 certificates are valid for 24 months under age 40, and 12 months thereafter.

What is the difference between EASA medical certificate classes?

Class 1 is required for professional pilots (airline captains, co-pilots). Class 2 applies to private pilots (PPL, CPL). Class 3 applies to air traffic controllers. Class 4 (LAPL) is for light aircraft pilots.

Does CIAM also issue DAC and ANAC certificates?

Yes. In addition to EASA certificates, CIAM issues DAC (Direction de l'Aviation Civile — Moroccan civil aviation authority) and ANAC (Mauritanian civil aviation authority) certificates.

What documents do I need to bring to the medical examination?

Please bring a valid identity document (passport or national ID), your previous medical certificate if this is a renewal, any current prescriptions and recent medical test results, and your glasses or contact lenses if you wear them.

Is an appointment required?

Yes, all medical examinations at CIAM are by appointment only. This ensures minimal waiting time and allows the centre to consolidate all your examinations into a single visit.

How long does a complete medical examination take?

A complete medical examination brings together all clinical and technical assessments in a single visit, typically taking half a day. The duration may vary depending on the assessments required.

Is CIAM accredited by Moroccan authorities?

Yes. CIAM holds approvals from the CNOM (decision N° 8817), the SGG (decision N° 6998), and a Ministerial Order (N° 3267-15, Official Gazette N° 6410). It is also the first EASA Class 1 Initial certified centre outside the European Union.
